Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) was established in 1992 to take over and merge the Dubai Electricity Company and the Dubai Water Department that had been operating independently for several years until then. Both these organizations were established in 1959. Today, DEWA delivers electricity and water to over 713,000 customers across the Emirate of Dubai. Dubai Electricity and Water Authority's installed capacity is 10,000 megawatts and 470 million imperial gallons per day of desalinated water. The electricity peak load reached 7,982 megawatts in 2016. Water peak demand in 2016 reached 347 million imperial gallons per day.
