Dubai Financial Market (DFM) was first established as a public institution having its own independent corporate body in March 2000. In December 2005, it was transformed into a joint-stock company, then sold 20% of its share capital in an IPO. Dubai Financial Market operates as a secondary market for the trading of securities issued by public shareholding companies, bonds issued by government and public institutions in the country, and units of investment funds.
