Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority
Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority replaced Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (founded 2005) and Abu Dhabi Farmers Services Centre (founded 2009). It is an independent food regulatory agency with a mandate to protect consumers, particularly by ensuring the safety and quality of food served to the public. It enforces policies and standards and conducts research and awareness campaigns to maintain a sustainable agriculture and food sector that delivers safe food to the public, protects the health of animals and plants, and adheres to sound environmental practices. It also provides technical and operational support services to farmers, helping them grow and market their produce. It works with local farmers to improve farming practices, resulting in higher production levels and better quality crops while conserving the country's environmental resources. It also partners with retailers and large corporate and government customers to provide them with a secure supply of local produce fresh from Abu Dhabi's farms.
