Kuwait Drilling Company (KDC) was established in 1963 as a joint venture between Santa Fe International Corporation, with a 49% holding, and a consortium of Kuwaiti businessmen with 51%. Today KDC is a subsidiary of the Contracting and Marine Services Company. Santa Fe's share is now held by Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, the state owned entity that controls all hydrocarbon activities in Kuwait.
