King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has issued a decree appointing Prince Abdullah Bin Musaed Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as head of the General Presidency for Youth Welfare, replacing Prince Nawaf Bin Faisal Bin Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The decree stated that Prince Nawaf was relieved from his post upon his request.
The General Presidency for Youth Welfare was established in 1974 as an agency responsible for sports, culture and social activities. It licenses and subsidizes sports and literary clubs and is responsible for the construction of sports facilities.
Prince Nawaf, a grandson of the late King Fahd of Saudi Arabia, has held this position since 2011.
