After seven years at the helm of Global Investment House, Maha Al Ghonaim, Kuwait’s most prominent female business executive, steps down together with Vice Chairman Al Razzouqi and CEO Al Sumait.
The resignation of Maha Al Ghonaim (biography) and her longtime team members Hisham Al Razzuqi and Bader Al Sumait, was promptly accepted by the board of directors.
Sources say it was graceful and came about as an inevitable conclusion to a tumultuous and agonizing restructuring saga of the high-flying company, which fell on hard times after the 2008 world financial crisis.
Ms. Al Ghonaim co-founded Global Investment House in Kuwait in 1998. Previously she was an Assistant General Manager of the asset management arm of Kuwait Investment Company.
She holds a BSc degree in Mathematics from the San Francisco State University.
