Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company ADNEC announces the departure of group CEO Pieter Idenburg, following the completion of his two-year business objectives.
Idenburg was brought into ADNEC to restructure the company into a more commercially driven entity, grow the conference side of the business and develop a collaborative business model that better meets the demands of an international client base.
ADNEC’s Managing Director Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri said that under Idenburg’s leadership, Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company has hosted the largest IDEX to date, held the first annualized Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference and secured the right to host five new international conferences, a first for the group.
“It is a testament to Pieter’s vision,” he said. “I thank Pieter for his passion for customer service and hospitality and his commitment to growing business tourism for Abu Dhabi.”
Commenting on his departure, Idenburg said: “I truly believe that the reputation of ADNEC is the strongest it has ever been. I am proud to have played a role in helping ADNEC develop its commercial strategy and build great stakeholder partnerships. I am thankful to the leadership team and ADNEC board for the support they have given me over the last two years.”
ADNEC will announce his successor in the next few weeks, with chief commercial officer Humaid Al Dhaheri assuming acting group CEO responsibilities in the interim.
