National Gas and Industrialization Company (Gasco) announces the appointment of IT veteran Dr. Eyas Sameer Alhajeri as CEO of the company.

Before joining National Gas and Industrialization Company (Gasco), Alhajeri held several positions including Chief Business Support Officer at Etihad Etisalat Company (MOBILY) and General Manager of its subsidiary Bayanat Al Oula for Network Services, Chairman of Mobily Infotech India and Chairman of National Company for Business Solutions (NCBS).

Alhajery was a full time member of the internet task force which was formed in 1997 to put the technical specifications and regulation policies to facilitate the provisioning of Internet services into the Kingdom. He also participated in the establishment of a semi-independent unit (Internet Services Unit) that operated the international Internet gateway of Saudi Arabia on a commercial basis starting January 1999. He became its general director in early 2002 and led to its first profitable years.

Alhajeri holds a doctorate in computer engineering from Syracuse University in the United States and has published many books and scientific papers on IT topics.
