Etihad Etisalat Company (Mobily) has appointed Ahmad Farroukh as Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect.
Mr. Farroukh has more than thirty years of international business experience in the Middle East, Africa, North America and Europe.
He has been the CEO of South Africa Operations at MTN Group since August 2014, a post he resigned last Monday.
He replaces the previous CEO Khalid al-Kaf who was suspended in November last year when the company first revealed significant accounting issues.
Mr. Farroukh (biography) brings “a proven track record of success in the area of financial management, audit and operations”, Mobily said in a bourse filing.
He joined MTN in 2006, with the acquisition of Investcom Holding Group and has held several roles during his tenure with the group. Prior to his appointment at MTN, he was managing director of Scancom Ghana and regional manager for West Africa.
He previously worked for Mediterranean Investor Group, KPMG, and Deloitte & Touche.
He holds a Masters in Business Administration and Accounting degree and is also a Certified Public Accountant.
