Sharjah-born Essam Al Tamimi founded his practice Tamimi & Co in 1989. It is now the largest law firm in the Middle East with 350 lawyers across nine countries.
In an interview with Arabian Business at his office in Dubai, Essam Al Tamimi (biography), Senior Partner at Tamimi & Co, laments that much of the UAE’s legislation is nearly half-a-century old and in need of revision.
“Most of the country’s laws were enacted in the late 1970s or early 1980s, barely a decade after the unification of the emirates. The legal map of the UAE has changed; particularly in the last 10-15 years, it has become a totally different country,” he explains. Read interview
