Oman’s Al Hassan Engineering Company, part of Al Hassan Group, has appointed Dr. Shawqi Hamdan Sajwani as Chief Executive, replacing Steve Scott.
Al Hassan Engineering Company (profile) has appointed Dr. Shawqi Hamdan Sajwani as its new chief executive officer, effective February 7. This follows Steve Scott’s decision to relinquish his position.
Scott will, however, be available for the smooth transition of responsibilities to the new incumbent, Al Hassan Engineering Company said in its filing with the Muscat Securities Market.
“The board of directors and management extend their gratitude to Scott for the contribution he has made to AHEC and also extend their wholehearted welcome to Dr. Sajwani. The board hopes that Dr. Sajwani will successfully lead and add value to the organisation and its future growth and wishes him every success,” it said.
Scott, who is an electrical engineer and fellow member of the Institute of Engineering Technology, was appointed CEO in February 2015. Prior to joining AHEC he was with Kellog Brown and Root as vice president of its downstream business unit for Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Dr. Sajwani is a UAE national and has been an independent consultant in the field of organizational excellence for the past six years. Prior to that, he was the Group Director, Business Excellence at Dubai Holding. His role was to establish excellence strategy for the corporate office. He was also responsible to cascade, monitor and validate the implementation across its business entities. This included strategic development and implementation of DH Excellence Award Program. He also developed the CSR and HSE strategy at the corporate office.
Dr. Sajwani holds a Bachelor’s in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Masters in Quality Management from the University of Wollongong. He is a graduate of Executive Development Program from IMD Business School.
