Adnoc named Abdulaziz Al Hajri, who was the CEO of its Borouge subsidiary, as Director of the Refining and Petrochemicals Division.

Omar Al Suwaidi, Deputy Director of Planning and Strategy, will now lead the Gas Division.

Mr. Al Hajri and Mr. Al Suwaidi, along with Mr. Abdullah Al Dhaheri, the Director of Sales and Marketing, and Mr. Abdulmonem Al Kindi, the Director of Exploration and Production, will report to H.E. Sultan Al Jaber, the Chief Executive Officer of Adnoc.

The company also appointed new CEOs for six of its 18 operating units, including Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Petroleum Operations (Adco) and Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (Adma-Opco), the joint ventures responsible for most of Abu Dhabi’s oil output.

The appointments are all promotions from within Adnoc’s ranks and are aimed at elevating a generation of technocrats who have proved themselves running other companies or projects within the group, in what H.E. Al Jaber describes as a new corporate regime that will require them to operate as active asset managers like in the private sector.

Adnoc is currently in talks to award stakes in its 40-year onshore concession to develop the emirate’s biggest oilfields, after a deal with Western oil companies dating back to the 1970s expired in January 2014.
