El-Kuwaiz named Vice Chairman of a recomposed CMA board

Mohammed El-Kuwaiz, an entrepreneur and investment professional, is appointed by royal decree as Vice Chairman of the Capital Market Authority (CMA).

El-Kuwaiz named Vice Chairman of a recomposed CMA boardMr. El-Kuwaiz is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Derayah Financial, a CMA-licensed Saudi investment firm.

He joins Mohamed Abdullah Al-Jadaan (biography), the CMA Chairman, and two other new board members for a period of five years.

The other board members of the Capital Market Authority are Dr. Abdulrahman Al Barrak, Dr. Tariq Al Naeem, and Wail Al Kahtani.

Mr. El-Kuwaiz (biography) is also a co-founder and a member of the board of trustees of Oqal, Saudi Arabia’s first angel investment network. Through Oqal, he has had the opportunity to invest in and supported numerous high growth ventures.

He is a member of the investment committees of King Faisal Foundation and Awqaf Sulaiman AlRajhi Company, the largest private endowment in the world.

He is also a Member of the Investments and Capital Markets Committee at Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In Addition, Mr. El-Kuwaiz teaches asset management to finance students at King Saud University.

During his career, Mr. El-Kuwaiz worked as a management consultant with McKinsey and Company, where he advised multiple firms in the areas of financial services, investment banking, investment products, corporate finance and public policy.

Before that, he worked in investment banking and corporate finance with Samba Financial Group, where he was responsible for alternative investment products and subsequently M&A advisory.

Before that, he was a dealer in foreign exchange, precious metals and international equities at Arab National Bank in Saudi Arabia.

Mr. El-Kuwaiz holds bachelors of Administrative Sciences with honors from King Saud University in Saudi Arabia majoring in Law.

He obtained an MBA from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business, specializing in finance and entrepreneurship.
