Agthia Group names Al Wahedi as Acting CEO

Abu Dhabi-listed Agthia Group has named Tariq Al Wahedi as Acting CEO following the resignation of its chief executive Iqbal Hamzah.

Agthia Group names Al Wahedi as Acting CEOAgthia Group (profile), one of the largest food and beverage companies in the UAE, has announced the resignation of chief executive officer Iqbal Hamzah and the appointment of Eng. Tariq Al Wahedi (biography) as acting CEO.

Eng. Al Wahedi was Senior Vice President of Projects and Business Development at Senaat, one of the UAE’s largest industrial investment and holding companies, managing industrial assets on behalf of the Government of Abu Dhabi.

With a career spanning over two decades, Eng. Al Wahedi has developed broad experience across the oil and gas, petrochemical, and metal industries. He is also a petroleum engineer and drilling specialist with a twelve year proven track record of leading oil drilling teams, rig operations and production facilities.

Since joining Senaat in 2009, Eng. Al Wahedi has played an instrumental role in the successful development of the company’s metals and petrochemical projects. He spearheads Senaat’s project development team, providing the firm with substantial expertise in international business, risk management, infrastructure development and day-to-day project development operations.

Prior to joining Senaat, Eng. Al Wahedi was project manager with the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO), where he worked on some of the Capital’s largest drilling sites, managing drilling teams, rig operations and production facilities for the company.

Eng. Al Wahedi holds a B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma in the US and an Executive MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Chicago.
