H.M. Sultan Qaboos bin Said has issued a Royal Decree appointing H.H. Sayyid Asaad bin Tariq Al Said as his Deputy Prime Minister.
Sultan of Oman His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said has issued a Royal Decree appointing his cousin, His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tariq Al Said (biography), as Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations, Affairs and Cooperation, and His Majesty’s Special Representative.
Sayyid Asaad bin Tariq Al Said is a former Brig. Gen. and has briefly held command of the Sultan’s Armored Corps in the 1990s. He has been the Sultan’s Personal Representative since 2002.
Sayyid Asaad, 63, is now Oman’s second Deputy Prime Minister after His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, who serves as deputy premier for cabinet affairs. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of University of Nizwa and Owner and CEO of Asad Investment Company.
