Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman has been named as the new Chief of Amiri Diwan with immediate effect.
The new Chief of Amiri Diwan, H.E. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani, was Assistant Chief of the Diwan since September 2019.
H.E. started his career at Qatar Armed Forces in 1994 and held different military functions until achieving the rank of Major (Engineer).
In 2001, he joined Qatar Olympic Committee as Assistant Secretary-General and subsequently served as Secretary-General from 2002 until 2015.
He was appointed Qatar’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Germany and Non-resident Ambassador to the Czech Republic from November 2016 until August 2019.
H.E. earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University in 1993 and received a Master’s degree in Sports Management from Université de Lyon in 2003. In 2013, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the National Sports Academy in Bulgaria.
