The Central Bank of The United Arab Emirates is the regulator of the banking and finance sector, which consists of 23 local banks and financial institutions and 34 foreign banks, including eight Islamic banks. The 57 banks have a network of 929 branches spread across the country. The Bank also acts as the regulator of the UAE insurance sector since October 2020.
