Tareq Muhmood joins AUB Kuwait as Senior Deputy CEO

Ahli United Bank Kuwait has announced the appointment of Tareq Muhmood in the position of Senior Deputy CEO — Banking Group.

Tareq Muhmood joins UBK Kuwait as Senior Deputy CEOMr. Tareq Muhmood’s role covers Corporate Banking, Treasury, Retail Banking, and Private Banking and Wealth Management.

He joins AUB Kuwait from ANZ, where he was CEO for Korea and Managing Director of Global Subsidiaries, and will report into Richard Groves, the bank’s Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Tareq Muhmood (biography) has an extensive experience in banking and related financial services gained through a 23-year career working in different countries across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

In 1994, he joined HSBC where he took up a role in HSBC Trade Services, Hong Kong. He was posted in several high profile roles which included Relationship and Business Development Manager of Commercial Banking at HSBC New York and Project Manager, Strategy Implementation, in London.

He served as Manager of Retail Banking for both HSBC Lebanon and Jordan, and eventually became CEO of HSBC Iraq and CEO of HSBC Brunei.

Mr. Muhmood graduated from The University of Manchester with a B.Sc. in Management Sciences in 1994 and has attended management programs at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
